eDiscovery
The process of searching for and finding files held in electronic format which are required for disclosure in legal proceedings. Generally the searches are for relevant documents, spreadsheets, databases, emails and the like and many of these are easily found. The application of computer forensic techniques to the processes not only adds an element of professionalism and impartiality - it preserves the original data, provides an audit trail and the processes can be repeated if necessary. It may also find items that were not discoverable using industry standard eDiscovery processes.
eDisclosure
The process of disclosing the content of the relevant files and documents identified by the eDiscovery process, ensuring that no data is disclosed which is not covered by the eDiscovery requirement and usually removing duplicates.
